We’ve come a long way but there is still much more to be done before we can reopen.

Update on the situation at CYE 5 March 21

Even though it is winter work is being done at camp.

At this point Brad Murray has a dozer on site and he has divided up the trees that have been piled up on the ball field.  This will make them easier to burn.

Wayne Brazzel will be doing the burning and other aspects of clean-up that have to do with razing the unrepairable structures.  We will get some dumpsters on site in order for the debris from those structures to be hauled away.

If anyone would like to spend time at camp working there is definitely something that needs to be done.  The mattresses need to be taken out of the damaged cabins, thoroughly cleaned with soap and disinfectant, allowed to dry then stacked in the mess hall in such a way as to allow air to circulate around them.  The bunkbed frames need to be moved out of the cabins in order for the cinder blocks and roofs from those cabins that are unrepairable to be knocked down and moved out.  The same needs to be done for those cabins that might be repairable but whose mattresses have been soiled.  This is a high priority matter for anyone who wants to do it.

If at any point someone working on this or any other project feels a certain situation is too dangerous do not go any further.  No one should take unnecessary risks to injury.  We ask that responsible adults carefully monitor all activity and that any minors involved be supervised at all times.

Note some pictures of the recent progress so far.  These were taken on 5 March.

The board wants everyone to know that we are having to adjust all our efforts from board meetings to workdays and to everything else associated with our camp.  At this time, of course, we cannot establish a camp schedule for this summer.  There are some ideas floating around, but these cannot even be fully addressed until some of these other things are taken care of.

These times in which we are doing our Lord’s work are trying and they test out metal.  But we must not forget that He is not so much looking for expert ability as much as He is looking for simple availability.  He will provide the means in His way.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to all who have contributed to the effort.
